Walks, Flora & Fauna

  • At the time of writing, we have not set out any formal walks around the property. That said, the most obvious one will be to the top of the hill. About a kilometre uprising 25 -30 metres, the view from the top is quite glorious. After rain showers, full rainbows can be seen, and the edge of the great dividing range table plain drops off down to the coastal areas.
  • Mountain bikes are provided with Helmets for your use to facilitate further exploration of the property. They are fun, but we do urge caution when negotiating some of the hills and slopes.
  • Guests at Spindrift are encouraged to log sightings of all the animals they encounter. Send in your sightings to Hello@spindrifter.com.au with pictures and any commentary, and we will post it in a section of this web page whose location has yet to be decided.

There are too many to be named exhaustively, but seen at Spindrift over the last couple of years are many of the expected suspects such as Roos, Wombats, Wallabies, and our mascot, the echidna. Birdlife also abounds from the raucous cockatoos, their squeaky door sounding black cousins and the comical though argumentative rosellas. Common choughs, owls at night, boobook and powerful, fairy-wrens, eastern spinebill honeyeaters and many more. Of particular interest are sightings of the scarlet robin. Though indigenous to the area, it is rarely seen.
